PRISON MINISTRY
The mission of this ministry is to bring the Word of God to inmates and the Body and Blood of Christ to those who are Catholic and otherwise would not have any way to receive the Eucharist. This ministry serves those inmates held in Douglas County jails. Requirements for this ministry are: you must be a mature, caring adult knowledgeable in the Catholic faith; you must be authorized as an Extraordinary Minister of the Holy Eucharist; and you must pass background checks by the Archdiocese of Atlanta and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department to become a member of the Chaplain staff. This ministry reaches out to all denominations and answers questions raised about the Church’s teachings; however, we do not attempt to convert anyone to Catholicism. Monday morning prayer services are led by the volunteer and are limited to 1 hour.
